August 23 Outreach
Today was holy ground. Not because of a building—but because of the people, the prayers, and the presence of Jesus among us.
We shared an incredible lunch, with the main dish lovingly prepared by Belle Isle Restaurant and homemade desserts offered by volunteers whose kindness tasted sweeter than sugar. But the real feast? It was the fellowship.
We helped two friends secure birth certificates—restoring identity and dignity. We prayed with many, reminding each soul that they are seen, known, and loved.
Our reflection came from Mark 2:14, where Jesus says, “Follow me,” and then immediately sits down to eat with those the authorities rejected. Today, we saw that same spirit alive. In a world that pushes the homeless aside, Jesus draws them close. He doesn’t wait for them to clean up or conform—He simply says, “Come.”
We reminded our friends: You are not forgotten. You are not invisible. You are the ones Jesus chooses to dine with. Not in shame, but in love. Not as a project, but as family.
Alongside the meal, we shared bedding, tarps, bus passes, clothing, hygiene items—and most of all, hope. The kind that doesn’t run out. The kind that walks the streets and sits on curbs. The kind that says, “You belong.”
This is church. This is grace. This is the Kingdom breaking through.
